CETP & State Licensing Endorsements

MTEC offers more than six intensive courses that are enhanced versions of the National Propane Gas Association’s Certified Employee Training Program (CETP). Maine law requires that those who work with propane or natural gas be trained and licensed to do so. According to both CETP rules and the state of Maine, students must pass Basic Principle and Practices before qualifying for any state propane or gas license endorsements.

Propane & Natural Gas Technician Training From Start to Finish

Traditionally taught as a textbook style course, MTEC has expanded the nationally recognized CETP curriculum to include hands-on training on various types of equipment. Students who successfully complete this program will earn National Propane Gas Association certification, which is the prerequisite to qualify for state licensing endorsements. Once certification is achieved, the initial state license and/or endorsements will be issued per the licensing law.

For many students, the typical progression of a career in Propane and Natural Gas involves following up the Basic Principles and Practices course with Appliance Installation and Service and then Tank Setter and Outside Piping. Together, these classes provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge to succeed as Propane and Natural Gas Technicians.

With additional MTEC course offerings including Plant Operator and Large Equipment Connection and Service, individuals already in working in the industry can accrue further propane and natural gas license endorsements from the state of Maine.
