MTEC 2020 Ductless Heat Pump Training on Sept. 15, 2020 10:00 AM EDT
Please join MEMA and Emerson Swan for an exciting and educational online ductless heat pump training. This application-based training will cover topics such as the sizing, selection and technology behind air-water heat pump systems. We will help attendees understand the current rebates available in Maine as well as how to decipher the often confusing heating and cooling BTU ratings on manufacturers data sheets. We will discuss proper installation methods for ductless, ducted and multi-positional air handling applications. We will review energy saving techniques including how to control and integrate heat pump systems with existing oil or propane systems to properly switch heat sources at appropriate temperatures, all while providing reliable heating down to -31°F!
This training will be run by Ralph Gates and Tom Protasewich of Emerson Swan. Ralph is the HVAC manager for Emerson Swan and long-time industry veteran. After receiving an Associate of Science degree in Heat and Power Plant Technology and Air Conditioning he began his career in 1975 as a field service technician for HB Smith Boiler Company. In 1990 he moved on to the Mestek Company assuming the role of Technical Service Manager for the Smith and Hydrotherm boiler divisions. A few years later Ralph crossed over into the air side and assumed multiple management roles with Sterling HVAC, Space Pak and eventually his final destination of Emerson Swan. Tom covers the State of Maine for all heating and HVAC products and enjoys spending as much time outdoors and or replacing systems that Ralph installed 30 years ago. With a background spanning the hospitality, convenience store, petroleum and heating industries he is ready to help on your next project. Both native to the Southern Maine area, Ralph and Tom are excited to bring their expertise and assistance to the MEMA members and Propane Summit attendees.
